What is the Agile Manifesto
The Agile Manifesto is a series of tenants that underpin all agile frameworks and processes. The manifesto describes a series of sometimes opposing values, and makes it clear which of the two is more important from an Agile perspective
Why is the Agile Manifesto Important
The Agile Manifesto is important because it helps practitioners understand what is true agility independent of an agile framework, such as Scrum and XP. As companies and individuals find the need to modify off the shelf frameworks into something that better fits their context and circumstances, the manifesto helps them understand where the guidelines truly stand.
Agile Manifesto in Total
We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it.
Through this work we have come to value:
- Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
- Working software over comprehensive documentation
- Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
- Responding to change over following a plan
That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.
